Meaning
to be glad that somebody has something good, with no envy in it at all
The story
Dutch keeps one verb for the absence of envy: ik gun het je, I am glad it went to you. The same word covers awarding a contract, which is a very Dutch way of saying the best bid deserved it. English manages only the negative, begrudge.
