Meaning
ruining yourself through extravagance on food
The story
Kui is eating and daore is falling over, and Osaka wears the word as a motto: people there would sooner go broke on food than on anything else. An old saying pairs it with Kyoto, where people ruin themselves on kimono instead. English has the splurge, one dinner at a time.
